Paramedics in practice enjoy a dynamic, wide-ranging role that can include:

• Delivering minor ailments clinics
• Participating in urgent care clinics (same day needs) alongside GPs
• Carrying out home visits and care home visits on behalf of a GP
• Diagnosing and managing both acute and chronic conditions, integrating both drug and non-drug based treatment methods into a management plan
• Developing anticipatory care plans for complex patients at risk of acute hospitalisation
• Proactively identifying, diagnosing and managing treatment plans for patients at risk of developing a long-term condition
• Prescribing and reviewing medications and working with patients to support compliance
• Providing information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medications, on medication regimens, side-effects and interactions
• Supporting patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care
