The practice has been based in a purpose-built health centre since 2015 which provides excellent facilities for staff, patients and the local community. Facilities are future-proofed with room for expansion and provision of additional and enhanced services to the local population. There is also a large car park for patients and staff use.
The team looks after a diverse population that includes multiple ethnicities and cultures which enriches working practice, offers learning opportunities and makes for a more rewarding day.
The practice offers GP triage for same day appointment requests, routine appointments bookable in advance, telephone consultations and Nurse Practitioner led minor illness consultations.
Eastville is a training and teaching practice that also carries out research and offers the Bristol Circumcision Service (for baby boys 1-6 months old), sexual health services, minor illness and wellbeing services, and Bristol Community Rose clinic which provides care and support for women who are experiencing problems as a result of FGM.
Support is offered in the form of weekly clinical team meetings, fortnightly MDT meetings and Balint-style meetings for the discussion of cases. There are designated leads for specific areas. Pharmacists, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses have a named ‘clinical supervisor’ and GP Partners provide support for each other and salaried GPs.
The team gets together for practice meetings, team meetings and socials.
Eastville is part of ICE locality, inner cluster and BPCAg cluster that also includes Maytrees, Charlotte Keel, Montpelier and Broadmead. Eastville works closely with its sister practice, Maytrees, and the two are set to merge in April 2018. The practice also works with Wellspring Surgery to deliver collaborative working initiatives.

The practice offers a full induction programme, shadowing, training needs analysis and monitoring, all in a supportive learning and development environment.
All inductions cover statutory requirements, practice information, policies and procedures, as well as induction tailored to the specific post. Each new member of staff is allocated a named member of staff as first point of contact. Shadowing takes place until the new recruit is confident to work independently.
Ongoing training and development are tailored to individual development needs. The practice is committed to staff development and provides, as a minimum, one week of paid study leave per clinician. In addition, approved training and development can also be funded.
All staff are also invited to and encouraged to attend social events.
Patients come from a very diverse population comprising multiple ethnicities and cultures, providing an interesting mix and caseload for clinicians. The inner city population means there is deprivation amongst many of the patients.
