General Practitioner/ Teaching Post Salaried or Partnership opportunities considered - 168 Medical Group

  • Type: Permanent
  • Role type: GPs
  • Location: North Somerset
  • Practice(s): 168 Medical Group

Owing to expansion in list size, growing demand and a new building coming next year we are looking to expand our GP team – but we want to do it a bit differently.

This innovative and dynamic post will blend teaching and General Practice. We are innovative and we have a dream to launch a teaching academy for medical students, paramedics, physicians associates and student nurses, so we need someone that can lead this aspect of our practice. There is some flexibility around the number of GP sessions you could work but for example a six session work week would consist of two sessions of dedicated teaching and four standard sessions of patient contact. We also want to upskill other clinicians here to teach and mentor.

We offer a nurturing environment for both experienced GPs or those just finishing training, therefore this post would be suitable for either an established educator, a mid- career GP wanting to branch out or even those completing training with a passion for education.

Our doctors have diverse interests in various specialities including minor surgery, dermatology, and are also lead members of our Primary Care Network and CCG boards.

We are a high achieving 21,000 patient practice and we are housed in one of Weston’s most modern GP buildings. We have another new building being built in 2022 where we intend to establish a teaching suite. The practice is situated approximately a mile from junction 21 on the M5, so the practice is easily-commutable from Bristol. It is about 30 minutes from the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the M5 or 30 minutes from Ashton Gate Stadium using the A370.

We have a comprehensive package of staff benefits which include:

  • Incremental Salary Scale recognising experience and length of service.
  • Indemnity insurance provided by the practice.
  • BMA Model contract with six weeks of annual leave.
  • One week of study leave per year.
  • Promotion of a healthy work-life balance.
  • Opportunity to Work Flexibly - If you want to work differently or need some flexibility, for example some home working or flexibility around school runs, we may be able to support in this. Please talk to us further.
  • Great support in your role from our able administrative team – each clinician has a named personal assistant.
