Thank you for your interest in our Practice and in our vacancy for a GP Associate. This is a permanent position and we are looking for a minimum of 4 sessions. We have 8 sessions available on a permanent basis. We are interested to hear from you if you would like to work between 4 and 8 sessions in a friendly and supportive GP team, in a stable and well-run Practice.
About the Practice
The Practice has been long established in North West Bristol prides itself on having an excellent reputation for both routine and more specialist primary care. We are a large Partner owned Practice with a list of around 21,000 patients. Our patients are varied including a large number of families, some nursing homes and also a student population.
We have recently completed an exciting building extension project and we now have 29 bright clinical rooms and a welcoming single site just off Gloucester Road.
Primary Care Services.
We hold a PMS contract and as well as all the core services we also run a full range of enhanced services including minor surgery and contraceptive services. As well as Primary Medical Services we host a variety of other services including having an onsite pharmacy. We work in a small PCN closely with Horfield Health Centre (Phoenix PCN).
Teaching and Training
The Practice has been a training practice for many years taking both GP registrars’ and F2 doctors. We currently have three trainees. We also host students.
Partnership, Leadership and Management
The current Partnership is made up of six Partners, five Clinical and one non clinical. Each partner has responsibility for specific areas of Practice performance/service delivery working with the Business Partner (Harriet Longman). We also have a developing management team and a full complement of administrative and support staff
We are a friendly, autonomous, and open team and our GPs all aim to meet daily for both professional support and social contact.
At present we have 10 GPs in the practice working between 4 and 8 sessions, with a total of 63 sessions. We also have a number of specialist nurses, a P.A, a Paramedic two WTE pharmacists, a number of Practice Nurses and three Healthcare Assistants.
Work pattern and terms
The work pattern is to be agreed, we are open to discussion around the vacancy. We are able to offer 9 weeks annual leave (including study leave and bank holidays) plus many non-financial benefits such as daily ‘’doctors coffee’’, in practice learning time, practice socials and a lovely work setting.

Usual GP Duties
• Clinical work is usually shared equally between the clinical team working that day. Individual doctors will pick their preferred appointment start times e.g. 8.30 /9.00 and preferred afternoon e.g. 3/ 3.30, and whether they wish to have coffee break and catch up slots. We run an 8 session full time equivalent.
• We can offer some flexible working for example a school friendly session or working from home session
• On call sessions and ‘usual’ patient numbers are shared equally pro rata between all GP’s.
• Our duty sessions involve joint work with an urgent care nurse triage.
