Practice Manager

Would you like to be Practice Manager at the best of the Practices I have worked for?

I am retiring from the role, so Fallodon Way Medical Centre is looking for a new Practice Manager to lead its close knit and enthusiastic team. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a broad range of skills from the big picture of advising the Partners in developing strategy, to the nitty gritty of monitoring NHS income streams and all other standard practice manager tasks in between.

Henleaze is one of Bristol’s “leafy suburbs” and whilst the patient population is aged, it is not deprived. The location provides easy access from the M5, as well as good housing, schools and amenities.

We provide an extremely high quality of care, within a pleasant and friendly workplace. The patients assessed Fallodon Way as the best overall practice in Bristol in 2016 and in the 2019 patient survey it was joint “top” practice in the North and West Bristol locality. The practice is both a training and a research practice. It was a founding member of the Affinity federation which has now developed into a PCN, so the role will include work-streams crossing practice boundaries. This also means there is a network of other practice managers who are willing to provide support if needed.

The practice is ambitious, with a sound development plan. A recent list dispersal at a neighbouring practice, has brought a large increase in patients. This in turn means we have CCG /NHSE support for an ambitious building programme (which will be managed separately). It’s an exciting time to be joining Fallodon Way!

The team at Fallodon Way comprises 3 partners, 4 Associate GPs and a Retainer and skill mixing has also brought a pharmacist, urgent care nurse and a pioneering care coordinator for frail elderly patients. There is practice nursing team of 7 and the non-medical support team now numbers 18. The team is dedicated, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and flexible, making its management, by and large, a pleasure.

Whilst there is a lot of work to do, the informal, supportive culture helps rather than hinders. The practice is family-friendly and tries to ensure a good work-life balance is maintained for all staff.

Please don’t take my word for it; give me a call and arrange an informal visit so that you can meet the staff and judge the situation for yourself.

We are offering a competitive salary for someone able to work 30-35 hours per week (which could be delivered at flexible times). More information about the practice can be found on our website at www.fwmc.org.uk

Please see the attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information on the role.

Application is by CV with a covering letter to me, Leigh Frost, explaining what you could bring to the role by 28th October, 2019. Interviews will be on 7th November 2019.
